When you’ve been making natural deodorant for as long as we have (12 years, to be precise!), you learn something pretty quickly.
A formula is never really finished.
Our deodorant paste was already doing a brilliant job at tackling body odour and looking after delicate underarm skin, and it had earned plenty of loyal fans along the way.
But we knew there was still room to make the experience even better.
And that’s where you came in.
It all started with your feedback
One of the best things about making our products ourselves, right here in our Newcastle fun factory, is that we get to hear directly from our Woohoo community.
Over the years, many of you told us how much you loved our deodorant pastes.
But after we made some minor tweaks to the formula back in 2025, you also shared some thoughtful feedback.
Some of you found the paste could feel a little firmer on cooler mornings.
Others wanted it to stay smoother during the warmer months.
A few noticed the texture changing slightly after sitting in the cupboard for a while.
None of these things meant the deodorant wasn’t doing its job.
They simply told us there was an opportunity to make a great formula even better.
So Aaron, our co-founder, cosmetic chemist and resident science geek, headed back into the lab.
Cosmetic chemistry is a bit like baking bread
You can’t just throw flour, water, yeast and salt into a bowl and expect a beautiful loaf to magically appear.
Every ingredient has to be carefully balanced. Too much or too little of just one, and suddenly your fluffy loaf turns into a flat, lumpy mess.
Natural deodorant works much the same way.
Get one piece of the puzzle wrong and the whole formula can behave differently.
That’s why cosmetic chemistry is as much about understanding how ingredients interact as it is about choosing the ingredients themselves.
Our deodorant paste is made from natural oils, butters, waxes and minerals, and every single one has an important job to do.
So improving one part of the paste often means carefully rebalancing everything else until each ingredient is working happily alongside the others.
That’s exactly why Aaron spent months and months in the Woohoo lab tinkering, testing, tweaking and nerding out on the formula until he got it just right.
Meet the ingredients behind the upgrade
Mango butter
One of the first new recruits was mango butter.
It helps create that lovely dry-touch finish while bringing the oils and powders together into a smoother, more cohesive paste. It also melts beautifully on contact with your skin, making application feel softer and more effortless.
A new blend of plant waxes
This was one of the biggest upgrades. Together, these waxes help create a stronger internal structure within the paste, making it more stable through different weather conditions and less likely to become grainy or develop little lumps over time.
Zinc stearate
We also introduced zinc stearate.
Its role is to give the paste that soft, velvety feel while reducing any oily or tacky after-feel on the skin.
Zinc oxide
Finally, we welcomed back one of our old favourites… zinc oxide.
Alongside its skin-loving qualities, zinc oxide also helps support the overall stability of the formula while contributing to that beautifully comfortable texture many of you already know and love.
A smoother, more stable formula
Together, these new ingredients have made a huge difference to the way our deodorant paste feels and performs, from the moment you scoop it out of the tin to the moment you massage it into your skin.
The formula is more consistent and stable. The texture is even smoother and just that little bit nicer to use every single day.
Not to mention, it still does a stellar job at keeping smelly armpits at bay.

One thing we’ve learned over the years is that our community notices the little things.
And honestly? We love that.
Your feedback is often what sparks these improvements in the first place, and Woohoo wouldn’t be where it is today without such an enthusiastic community.
